Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC) is a voluntary, independent, multidisciplinary Board established in 1981 with a mission to “provide pathways to assess and maintain infection control competency”. Certification allows for Infection Control Practitioners (ICPs) to attain an internationally recognized level of infection prevention and control knowledge and expertise.
The Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is the only accredited infection prevention and control certification. The CIC was developed from an analysis of the practice of infection prevention and control professionals from the USA, Canada, and other countries; it is recognized by Infection Prevention & Control Canada (IPAC Canada).
