Learn about how Library Services collects, uses and protects your information.

Overview

Library Services will only collect your institutional email and name when you provide it to us. For example, we will ask for your email address when you request a service or give feedback through an online form on the library website. We only use this information to respond to your questions, provide you with requested services and/or improve our service offerings to you.

We will not disclose any data we collect from you to any party in a manner that would identify you, except to fulfill your service request or where required by law.

We will never share your information with a third party without your consent or use it for commercial and/or marketing purposes.

We will endeavour to protect your personal information by ensuring your information is securely stored against risks such as unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure or disposal.

If we become aware of a breach of your privacy, we will notify you immediately either directly or through the organization’s privacy office. Library Services is not liable for any disclosure in good faith or any consequences of that disclosure.

Electronic Resources

Many of our subscription electronic resources monitor usage and search terms, most often anonymously. Please consult individual resources for corresponding privacy statements if you have any questions.

Many of our subscription electronic resources also offer users the ability to create an account with a username and password to save search terms, search strategies, citations and more. Please consult individual resources for corresponding privacy statements if you have any questions.

Web Traffic & Searches

Library Services monitors traffic to our website and the terms searched by visitors. Traffic and searches are only associated with an IP address, not your personal information. We use data about web traffic to inform how we build, maintain and improve our web services. We also use search term data to inform our service offerings and make decisions about the resources we invest in for the organization.
