This pamphlet explains the challenges you may experience 24 hours (1 day) after your baby is born and includes ways to comfort your baby. As you get to know your baby's behaviours, you will start to see that they are most comforted by snuggling up to you at your breast/chest (also available in French).

IWK Health
This Atlantic Canada-wide program aims to prevent injuries by offering resources on car seats, home safety, helmets, poisoning prevention, and playground safety.
This program promotes early reading by giving a free bag of books and reading resources to every baby born in Nova Scotia. Each bag includes age-appropriate baby books (available in multiple languages). Note: If you were discharged from the hospital after giving birth before receiving your bag, you can request one through the Read to Me website.
Learn more about newborn screening tests (offered through IWK Health) for 28 treatable conditions in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island (PEI). These routine tests are recommended for all babies.
Public Health offers vaccine clinics for children who do not have a primary health care provider (family doctor or nurse practitioner. These vaccines are free.
