About

How do vaccines work?

Vaccines work by activating the immune system similarly to how the body would react to a virus or bacterium. This reaction gives your immune system memory so that it is prepared to defend against future contact with that virus or bacterium.

Which vaccines should I receive?

Routine vaccines are available free of charge to Nova Scotians. Speak to your healthcare provider or read more about which vaccines are recommended for your age group here: Immunizations | Nova Scotia Health (nshealth.ca)
