Note: When completing audits, ONLY review the previous 48 hours of the inpatient vital signs and other components of the patient chart.
Each care area reviews ~5-10 charts/month for NEWS2 audits.
The NEWS2 Audit will assess the following:
- Correct calculation of NEWS 2 scores (this will require the auditor to verify NEWS scores from the previous 48 hours),
- Care area response and escalation processes
- Appropriateness of the escalation practices
- Patient outcome if escalation required (i.e., code blue called, transfer to ICU etc.)
