Mental Health and Addictions Education in the Emergency Department

Evidence-based guidance for including Trauma-Informed Care principles in practice and reducing stigma in health care.

Therapeutic Relationship

Establishing a therapeutic relationship with a patient is accomplished in many ways, but always involves communicating with respect, kindness, and compassion to encourage the patient to trust their health care provider. Positive, effective communication also requires that the health care provider listen to and observe nonverbal expressions carefully to understand the needs and feelings of the patient.

Education

The following video is an education session about communicating successfully with your patients.
