Getting Started

Nova Scotia Health's Cancer Care Program is responsible for cancer programs and services across the province including:

  • Cancer prevention and early detection
  • Treatment
  • Follow-up
  • Supportive care
  • Palliative care
  • End-of-life care

The cancer care program collaborates with the IWK Health Centre to support the delivery of cancer services to pediatric and young adult patients, and breast health services including screening.

Oncology Transformation Project

The Oncology Transformation Project, or OTP, is a partnership of the Nova Scotia Health Cancer Care Program (NSHCCP), the Province of Nova Scotia, and Varian. Varian's Aria® Oncology Information System (OIS) is an electronic multi-modality comprehensive cancer-care platform for oncology. The platform will include:

  • a data and analytics platform
  • a radiation therapy treatment planning system
  • a systemic therapy management (STM) database
