Health Transformation Hub

Key Messages

  • The development and delivery of health services should be informed by the experiences of the people who are accessing them.
  • Nova Scotians are keen to provide their insight into how health services are delivered in our province. It is crucial that appropriate mechanisms to facilitate this engagement are created and sustained.

Overview

This initiative is working to develop appropriate ways to gather, incorporate and leverage public input to improve the delivery of health services in Nova Scotia.

Areas of Focus

Work is underway to develop a health system-wide public engagement structure—ensuring that all partners within the system have:

  • A common platform and approach for soliciting public input
  • Greater coordination around who is reaching out, when and for what purpose.

We are examining existing engagement mechanisms within the health system (such as Community Health Boards and our relationships with a network of community-based organizations) to better understand how they can support this vision.

Current Activities

Online Public Engagement Hub

Efforts are underway to have Nova Scotia Health’s Engage4Health be the single platform for public engagement across all health system partners.

Community Health Boards (CHBs)

Work has begun with Nova Scotia Health and health system partners to review and assess CHBs and other local engagement opportunities. This will ensure equitable access among rural and urban areas of Nova Scotia to inform health system service priorities and initiatives.

System-level coordination

We are forming a working group of health system partners to guide development of a coordinated approach to engagement.
